World Book Online for Kids is a free encyclopedia specially for kids that may be offered to you at no cost through your public library. Contact your school or public library to find out if you already have access to World Book Online.
SAMPLE SEARCH: POP ART
Say you have been assigned a school project on a certain time period or movement in art, and you don't know where to start. Your teacher says you need to use an encyclopedia or reference book to find out more information - you might even need to include citations. World Book for Kids is a great place to start, and you can access the site from home, school or anywhere in the world that has Internet access!
1. To begin, go to the World Book for Kids website. To find this site, you may need to visit your local library or school's website. There should be a link to click that will take you to the website. (You might need to log in with your library card number.)
2. On the main homepage for World Book Kids, there will be a search bar towards the top of the page. For our sample search, we will be searching for 'Pop Art.' Enter the words 'pop art' into the search bar, and hit 'Go.' (See the image below if you are having trouble finding the search bar.)

3. Our search returned 8 results and is spread across 2 pages. You can click the number 2 or the 'Next' link at the top to go to the next page of search results. Many of the results are of artists who were part of the Pop Art movement. Click the artist's name to find out more information. (See the image below to view an example of what your search results might look like for this search.)
4. Clicking on any of the names will take you to the encyclopedia article on the artist. You will notice that the last names of the artists are given first before the artist's first name. Even though the search results list 'Warhol, Andy,' please be aware that his name was actually Andy Warhol! If you click on the link for the article, information on the artist will be given. Proper citation formats are also included. On this page, you can print or e-mail the information using the links found under 'Tools.'
