About
This resource was created by Katherine Huddle, a graduate student in the field of Library and Information Science at IUPUI. Katherine has a BFA in Art History from Herron School of Art and Design. Her specialization is in Contemporary and Modern Art.
The intended audience for this website is children aged K-8 (although it can always be used by high school students and adults, too!) After struggling to help students, teachers and parents locate quality sources for homework and school projects - in particular, autobiographical assignments and inspirational, easy to understand resources on fine and contemporary arts for kids, - Mrs. Huddle decided it would be an opportune subject to create a Pathfinder - or large list of multiple resources for kids - online. Unlike the school or public library, this digital resource is available 24/7.
The digital resources, such as eBooks, online databases and videos can help students to work on homework or projects after school from the comfort of their own homes. When teachers assign assignments to large groups, many print books can quickly be checked out of the library - leaving some students stranded without resources. These additional online materials can be a great supplement to print resources, or as standalone study guides and recreational activities.
The items in this pathfinder were all hand-picked and carefully evaluated. Each book, website and all other resources were scrutinized by the author of this site, looking for the following aspects in the resources especially:

The items in this pathfinder were all hand-picked and carefully evaluated. Each book, website and all other resources were scrutinized by the author of this site, looking for the following aspects in the resources especially:
- Interest & Patron Requests - I consulted with several children's librarians at my local library to find out what topics relating to art students and young readers asked most about.
- Materials by Popular Authors - I also chose materials from popular and well-known artists whenever possible.
- Publishers - Materials from reputable publishers were given preference.
- Timeliness - Items published recently are included whenever possible.
- Reviews - I scoured the Web for reviews from real readers, including young readers, to discover what people actually think about these books, apps and resources.
- Price - I tried to locate items that were free, easily accessible and commonly found in my public and school libraries.
